The 6,500-member union endorses its Vice President, the San Francisco-based father, union leader, bilingual educator, and community organizer, who pledges to fully fund public schools
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Representing 6,500 members, the executive board of the United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) voted on Wednesday to endorse Frank Lara, a dedicated bilingual educator and Vice President of UESF, for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
“Tonight, the union I have dedicated myself to ever since I began my teaching career, the United Educators of San Francisco, endorsed my campaign for State Superintendent of Public Instruction,” Lara announced. “I’m enormously proud that the leadership of our union entrusted me to continue fighting for our school communities in this important position.” A seasoned organizer for immigrant rights, Lara has over ten years of classroom teaching experience and is the only union officer that has entered the race so far. Having served as the Executive Vice President of United Educators of San Francisco (UESF) since 2021, Frank has been fighting alongside his union siblings for better learning conditions for students and better working conditions for educators. Now, Lara plans to take the lessons from his union work with UESF to the state level, challenging establishment politicians who continue to make drastic funding cuts to the resources our students need and deserve. “It’s time our educators and families have an unwavering and fearless fighter for quality and accessible public education for all our students.”
